Frequently asked questions
Can I keep my existing Australian numbers when moving to AstraQom?+
Yes. We port geographic +61 numbers (02 Sydney, 03 Melbourne, 07 Brisbane, 08 Perth/Adelaide), 13/1300/1800 inbound numbers and mobile ranges from Telstra, Optus, TPG and other carriers. Local number ports typically complete in 5–10 business days, complex 1300/1800 and multi-site ports in 3–4 weeks, with no downtime at cutover.
Is AstraQom compliant with ACMA rules and Triple Zero (000)?+
Yes. Every Australian service is provisioned with a registered service address so Triple Zero (000) calls reach the correct emergency service and your location is passed to the operator. We also meet ACMA numbering, Local Number Portability and record-keeping obligations, and we handle the Telecommunications Consumer Protections requirements that apply to your service.
Where is the voice traffic routed, and how good is call quality?+
Australian traffic terminates through Tier-1 domestic interconnects with points of presence in Sydney and Melbourne, so calls between your sites and to Australian numbers stay on-shore. We use geo-redundant SBCs, QoS-aware routing and optional SD-WAN or 4G/5G failover, so branch offices on business NBN still get carrier-grade voice.
How much does SIP trunking cost in Australia, and is it billed in AUD?+
Yes — we invoice in AUD. Trunks are priced per concurrent channel from around A$14 per channel per month, with per-second billing on outbound and unlimited-inbound options on 1300/1800 services. There is no minimum term on standard trunks, so you can scale channels up for peak season and back down afterwards.
Will it work with our existing PBX or Microsoft Teams?+
Almost certainly. We interoperate with Asterisk, FreePBX, 3CX, Avaya, Cisco, Yealink and Microsoft Teams Direct Routing. If you'd rather not run a PBX at all, our hosted PBX and contact centre run from the same contract, and we can migrate you in stages rather than all at once.
What happens after I submit the form?+
An AstraQom telecom specialist — not a call centre — replies within one business day (AEST) with indicative AUD pricing, available number ranges for your cities and a suggested migration path. There is no obligation, no credit check to get a quote, and we can arrange a free trial trunk before you commit.
Do you support businesses outside the capital cities?+
Yes. We deliver numbers and SIP services across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin and regional area codes, plus national 13/1300/1800 inbound. Multi-site and remote-team deployments are handled on one account with a single invoice.
